Day 131 - Remembering History: A Visit to the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum and Nagasaki Peace Park

Updated: Oct 13, 2023

Day 131 (12 May 2023) - Nagasaki, Japan

DAY 131 (12 MAY 2023) - While I got to see the ruins of the A-Bomb Dome in Hiroshima a few days ago, today I the visited the Atomic Bombing Museum in Nagasaki.

There were a lot of exhibits on display that showcased the devastating effects and true nature of the disaster.

Among the exhibits were a badly damaged wall clock that stopped at 11.02 am – the exact moment the atomic bomb exploded over Nagasaki on the 9th of Aug 1945.

As we all know the history, the US detonated 2 atomic bombs over the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the morning of 6th Aug 1945 and 9th Aug 1945, respectively.

I was quite moved by the end of the tour. I did make sure to pay my respects at the Nagasaki Peace Park, which serves as a memorial for the victims of this devastating event.
