Day 159 (o9 June 2023) - Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia
DAY 159 (09 JUNE 2023) – I checked out of my hotel in Ulaanbaatar and left for the Genghis Khan (Chinggis Khan) Statue Complex, about 56 km away, with Mr Agi. Due to the traffic in the city, it took us about an hour to get there. There were many tourists and the entrance fee was MNT 20,000 (RM 26).
The huge stainless steel statue of Genghis Khan on horseback is simply memerising! It is the world’s tallest equestrian statue. I visited the museum in the lower ground to know more about the history. There were Bronze Age exhibits on display, which was fascinating. I also climbed up to the head of the horse and got a panoramic view of the surroundings. It was a little cold as the temperature was 21 C.
We then headed to the open land where there were many ger camps and horses around. I took the chance to take photo on a horse and also posed with an eagle on my hand while wearing a traditional mongol hat. We had lunch at a restaurant in one of the Ger camps. I had Udon noodles with some meat, which later I found out was horse meat!
After lunch, I left for a 6 hour ride to Uvurkhangai and arrived by evening.
