Day 181 (01 July 2023) - Moscow, Russia
DAY 181 (01 JULY 2023) – In the morning, we had a successful tree-planting activity at Sergei's youngest daughter's school. I also met his son and some of his friends at his machinery shop.
After lunch, it was time to say goodbye to Sergei and his family. I had met Sergei briefly at a rest area a few weeks ago when I was on my way to Chita. We kept in touch and I ended up staying at his house as a guest.
Both Sergei and Madam Jurate were gracious hosts and made me feel welcome at their home. I am very thankful for their kindness and gracious hospitality. Sergei is another wonderful friend, among the many friends I have gathered since I arrived in Russia.
I then left for Moscow which was an hour away from Sergei’s home. Oddly, my navigation system was not displaying the routes accurately and I had trouble finding my way around Moscow city itself. Either the navigation was inaccurate or it would disappear off the screen!
I had to stop a couple of times to ask for directions and managed to get to Red Square. I didn't miss the chance to take some pictures with my motorbike. There were many patrol cars around but no restrictions whatsoever.
The place was busy with many visitors and I had some curious onlookers! I had friendly interactions with many of them. Among them was a Russian who interacted with me in Bahasa Malaysia! Apparently, he had previously worked and lived in Kuala Lumpur for 3 years.
I stayed the night at a hostel which was only 6 km away from Red Square, but it took me almost an hour to get there due to navigation issues.
